A little beauty secret...

October 29, 2014

Disclaimer: please excuse my nails... this week I have mostly been running around in parks with my boys, enjoying half term. The chipped nail varnish didn't look too out of place with my hoodies and trainers.

So midway through half term and not an iota of work has been done. Not a bit. Not a single book.
I always make sure I split half term into two parts, one for work and one for play. The play bit is done and now the next two days will be solid work for me. Oh joy.
Anyway, I thought today I would let you in on a little secret. Assuming you are not in on it already.
Yes, Bio-Oil. That seemingly overpriced little bottle of funny-looking orange oil is literally one of the best skincare products I have in my possession and has served me very well over the last 5 years or so.
It all started when I was pregnant the first time round, and like many a new mum was concerned about stretch marks. Not overly concerned. Just, you know... would rather not.
Someone suggested Bio-Oil and through 2 pregnancies I managed to escape virtually unscathed. It's also very good at fading existing stretch marks and scars and worked really well when Joshua was left with very large scars after chicken pox. The scars were really prominent a year later and within a couple of months of applying Bio-Oil had faded massively.
My main use for this though is as a facial moisturiser at night. I cleanse as usual and then apply about 4 or 5 drops, rubbed between my palms first and then spread over my face. Your skin will immediately feel so supple and also any excess can be rubbed into your hands to keep them looking all soft and youthful! The next morning your skin will feel like velvet and over time, you will find that any skin discolouration issues gradually disappear.
I swear it even helps get rid of spots. A few times I have grown a little friend on my face, I apply this and the next morning it's gone. Coincidence? Maybe. But i'm sure it's the BO (note to self... that abbreviation does not work... stick to Bio-Oil).
It is supposedly a good product for people with oily skin too and will not clog pores. Just remember that a little goes a long way and 4 or 5 drops is perfectly adequate.
I tend to buy the 60ml size which retails for £8.99 from most pharmacies. It seems a lot but considering how long it lasts and how many uses it has, it's actually a very good buy.
Obviously, everybody's skin is different and what works for one may not necessarily work for someone else. Just thought I would share a product which has been a personal favourite of mine over the years.

Let me know how you get on if you give it a go or if you know of any other uses which I haven't mentioned already.

Ekaete x
